'That's not who we are' is exactly who they are
"Whatever they do and whatever they offer is defiled."
Today I read Haggai 2. America was founded on Biblical truths and strong Judeo-Christian values. Our founding documents have never been repealed, but many of our elected officials are denying them anyway. The phrase "that's not who we are" is an admission that they do not believe in the Constitution they swore to defend. They are defiling the nation and its people: "Whatever they do and whatever they offer is defiled."
Give this careful thought: Consider how things were before the foundation of this country was laid. All-powerful monarchs controlled unbelievable wealth and with a single word could take the life of any person in their kingdoms.
After the founding of America, a new idea swept the world: that the people control their governments, that government derives its just powers from the consent of the governed, and that government is established by the people to protect and maintain individual rights.
In the post-COVID world, we know those founding principles have been destroyed, and that all-powerful leaders once again control your wealth and your ability to live in peace.
Consider this: when you get paid, those dollars are worth less than they were just a few years ago; when you buy food, the amount of food in the container is less than it was just a few years ago. This situation will only get worse unless the people do one simple thing.
The Lord's covenant with the Founders applies to us, too. If we will just lay the foundation once again, He will bless the defiled people.
So ask for strength from the Lord and make your voice heard by the overlords who would see you and your country defiled forever.
I echo what brother Kyle posted below. We are living in a time of judgement and it will either lead to renewal or exile. We must choose this day who to worship. Joshua 24:15 "But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD." I simply want to be part of the faithful remnant.
I've said it often, and it continues to wring true. We are not going to see judgment, we are currently living in it. Does that mean things cannot be changed or turned around? No! We can take comfort in the words from 2 Chronicles 7.
â€â€2 Chronicles‬ â€7:12â€-‬18‬ â€NASB2020‬‬
[12] Then the Lord appeared to Solomon at night and said to him, “I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for Myself as a house of sacrifice. [13] If I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send a plague among My people, [14] and My people who are called by My name humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. [15] Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to the prayer offered in this place. [16] For now I have chosen and consecrated this house so that My name may be there forever, and My eyes and My heart will be there always. [17] As for you, if you walk before Me as your father David walked, to do according to everything that I have commanded you, and keep My statutes and My ordinances, [18] then I will establish your royal throne as I covenanted with your father David, saying, ‘You shall not lack a man to be ruler in Israel.’

Just as He has done in the past, He can and will redeem His own if we do our part and "SEEK HIS FACE."
A remnant is always preserved, even in judgment.
