Sacramento's Violent Poet Laureate
The Biden DOJ says 18 U.S. Code § 241 must be used against people who conspire to deny rights to others. Well, then, get on with it.
If words are violence and silence is violence — as our current tyrants insist — then should you punch the next revolutionary who smiles at you because they’re probably bringing gas and matches to your neighborhood?
You might not know that the City of Sacramento is paying an annual stipend to a Poet Laureate who wants you to “imagine what will happen when we get some gas and matches,” or that he received $50,000 from the Academy of American Poets, or that he teaches children. But you probably know that some Sacramento schools employ Communist revolutionaries who teach children, because the entire country knows that and the Communists aren’t even bothering to hide their hostile takeover of America anymore.
Not only does Poet Laureate Andrew Bell — aka “Andru Defeye,” one of those rap names you generate off the interwebs (mine is D Wrath aka Kracker Gunshot) — believe he has the right to use unrestricted violence against people he identifies as “fascists,” he also believes the government should pay him “high dollar amounts” to bring that message into schools.
It is possible Mr. Deaf Eye is blind to what happens when revolutionary artists cede control of their art to revolutionary governments, but it’s more likely he’s working to realize a “revolutionary dictatorship of the proletariat.” Since he has normalized violent propaganda himself, it’s also likely he wants that dictatorship to have “rule that is unrestricted by any laws” and “maintained by the use of violence by the proletariat against the bourgeoisie.”
“The entire premise of paying poets high dollar amounts to create curricula and bring local poetry into schools that helps teachers meet California educational standards has been a dream of mine for some years now.” — Andru Defeye
It’s a very bad idea, but the message to young students is this: “To speak out in the wrong way is violence. Not to speak out is violence. Not to speak out in the way progressives dictate is violence. … That doesn’t leave much room for dissent, does it? Anyone in the public square who doesn’t conform … risks being humiliated and ruined.”
In 2022, Sol Collective, a Sacramento non-profit where Mr. Eye worked for almost a decade, was among 69 recipients of $950,000 in grants from the city’s Office of Arts and Culture. Also in that year, Mr. Eye lauded students at CSU Sacramento for making up new words. “This generation is amazing at that,” he said at the university’s Antiracism and Inclusion Convocations. “Terms like ‘non-binary,’ ‘trauma bonds,’ microaggressions’ … have empowered so many people and shifted this society so much.” He also told the convocation he’s a “recovering racist” (video here).
In 2020, Mr. Eye complained about the “performative bullshit” of Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg and “the rest of the Pharisee council,” posted that Gay Pride has been replaced with “Gay Wrath Month,” and was promptly named Poet Laureate by the government he allegedly hates.
Before that, he was an unrecovering racist who performed “drunk poetry,” complained about Trump, and woke up in his bathroom “covered in blood and surrounded by empty liquor bottles.” All of which were undoubtedly resume enhancements to the Sacramento bureaucrats who decided to up his street cred with an official government title.
And, of course, Mr. Eye is one of those activists who goes around correcting other people’s language and threatening to expel them from the tribe. In fact, he’s so anti-racist that, during a 2022 interview, he even corrected his white progressive artist interviewer who told a story about his “Japanese friend.”
“A very close friend of my who is Japanese said we are all recovering racists, this is not a white problem,” said interviewer Phillip Altstatt, who drew the letter A for Sacramento’s 2018 Wide Open Walls event. “Me, myself — speaking for my Japanese friend — I’m racist against white people, and I don’t want to be.”
Ignore the obvious double standard that Altstatt still has a job after broacasting the equivalent of “some of my best friends are black.” Instead, just focus on what he’s saying. And then let it sink in for a moment, because it is likely one of the few times you will ever hear a “progressive” person tell the truth in public.
His Japanese friend knows people of all races are racists. Some more than others, but it is part of the abominable “human condition” that colleges used to warn us about. Now it’s used as a hammer to bludgeon K-3 students, with the spin that only white kids — not “people of color” — suffer from the universal condition of being human.
“Not until civil society has been severely crippled through propaganda and terror does it become possible to create new, meaningful structures which are the conception and development of the absolute state.” — Robert Nisbet.
Mr. Eye couldn’t let that truth stand. If he did, and if that truth were allowed to reach a wider audience, well, then Mr. Eye and all his race-grifting comrades couldn’t profit from their racism. I mean, let’s be honest. This is one of the other reasons Mr. Eye is Poet Laureate of Sacramento.
“I want to make sure to draw a clear distiction,” Mr. Eye mansplained to his interviewer, “because where people of color can’t be racist, they can be prejudiced … anyone can have that. Now I just want to explain that racism is a structural thing.”
Ah, yes, the “structural thing.” This is where we confront the foundational truth of what our poet and his legions of comrades are actually doing. As I recently noted, they are fed up with government that restrains its power. They want government to compel us to be “free.” And the “community” is their instrument of power.
All of this leads to the indisputable fact that Andrew Bell is conspiring with government officials and private citizens to deprive others — those who deny they were ever racists, refuse to use fabricated pronouns, and will not be compelled to do otherwise — of their constitutional right to free speech.
In 2021, a Florida man was arrested by the Department of Justice for “conspiring with others in advance of the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election to use various social media platforms to disseminate misinformation designed to deprive individuals of their constitutional right to vote.”
Under 18 U.S. Code § 241, “If two or more persons conspire to injure, oppress, threaten, or intimidate any person … in the free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege secured to him by the Constitution or laws of the United States, or because of his having so exercised the same … They shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both.”
If a “social media influencer” can be prosecuted for “exploit[ing] a social media platform to infringe one the of most basic and sacred rights guaranteed by the Constitution,” then Andrew Bell, acting as a paid agent of the City of Sacramento, intimidating his fellow citizens and threatening them with bodily harm, should be prosecuted under the same law.
